Jackie Pop 'Pencils Down' CD Release Saturday, Sept 15th at The Bitter End
(PRWEB) August 21, 2007 -- Jacky Pop is a singer/songwriter from Brooklyn whose high energy and heartfelt music have been setting stages a blaze for over eight years. She got her start playing guitar at the age of 16 and by the age of 18 released a full length with her first band Zinnia. Jackie moved to NYC after college where she further developed her music and style.
Jacky Pop's tone and song writing talent have best been compared to Stevie Wonder. Her songs are warm, memorable, and full of pop perfection. This lovely womens voice can make you laugh, cry and nearly everything in between. Her live performances are delightfully intense. She has played with such musicians as Regina Spektor, The Butchies and Nicole Atkins.
Her track opener "Leontine" is like a dreamers ode to a march. Track two "In The Middle" is heavier and Jackie Pop's emotions jump out as if bleeding out the speakers. Track eight "All My Tears" is a homage to likes of Janis Joplin and Billie Holiday.

The Bitter End is a nightclub in New York City's Greenwich Village. It opened its doors in 1962 at 147 Bleecker Street under the auspices of original owner Fred Weintraub. An earlier club, "The Cock and Bull" operated on the same premises with the same format, in the late fifties. The poet Hugh Romney (who later became known as Wavy Gravy) read there. The City of New York bestowed Landmark status to the night club on July 23, 1992.
Albums by Peter, Paul and Mary, Randy Newman, Curtis Mayfield, Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, The Isley Brothers, Tommy James & the Shondells, and RAD, among others, have been recorded live at the Bitter End.
